Was out today buying our Thanksgiving turkey. Taking an on-ramp from one six-lane to another. About halfway through the on-ramp curve, I picked up k-band. Normally, I'll accelerate hard through that turn because the speed of traffic is usually around 60 (PSL 55), and sometimes I'll get a k-band hit off a door opener to the right of the road. But that signal is usually SHORT -- this one lasted, and ramped up to full strength as I merged, so I kept it slow and calm. The signal quickly fell off to 4-5 bars, but I was suspicious, so I cruise controlled it, and sure enough -- a LEO was sitting in the median 6 tenths of a mile down the road. Motorcycle cop with his radar gun sitting in his lap, pointing at the gas tank of his bike.
NICE SAVE. This town raised all their fines a couple of years ago. Some doubled, others tripled. All in the name of raising more revenue...LITERALLY justified that way by the governor.
Had I done my normal speed through there, I'd have been nailed and probably walked away with $350 in fines. Good job Whistler!
