Default V1 for 5 years

I owned one of these for 5 years and have to say it was worth every penny but finally gave out after 5 years I had mounted it has high on the windshield as it would go and hardwired it into the map lights on my truck. I usually took it down in the summer but in the winter didn't really worry about it. But I believe heat was the final straw as the unit would stay on Ka and not stop until you turned it off. Until then it was a brilliant detector giving me all kinds of range and warnings that avoided so many speed traps and cameras. It did let me down as I would adjust the volume all the way down some nights and forget about it and then wake up late to work and forgot I had done that and a cop got me when I wasn't paying attention to it as much as I was my hair (. (A brighter more colorful LED bar would help with this) so I learned my lesson. Anyways my point is that this thing is so good that sometimes you forget about it and then you get into trouble . I bought a cheaper RX65 and hopefully I can keep my license for another 5 years

Default V1 still Going after 7 years

MR2,

Sounds like you had a defective V1. I've had mine since 2001 and sent it in for the newest software update. Never once has heat/cold or anything bothered it. I know people who have had there's for 12 years and no problems. Don't settle for a RX65. Stay with the V1.. Its twice the detector the Bel is. Also you might look at the new Blinder M-25 for laser protection. No radar detector will save you from a laser speed trap!!!

I don't know I kinda miss the arrows but last night I went through a speed trap with two officers and the Bel would show me one frequency then another. I laughed a little when I seen one was Ka 34.666 . It detected them about a mile out and it took me a while to find them visually because they didn't have their lights on. So far its been pretty good. I've only ran int laser once in Branson if I see them in my area more I'll be saving up for the blinder but they are not the richest counties so I'm not too worried about it yet. About the time I get my first ticket with a laser I'll buy one .

Default Why Wait?

MR2,

If you wait and get a laser speeding ticket, not only will your insurance go out the roof, but its points on your license. WHY WAIT!! its a no brainer. buy the blinder and save yourself at least $200.00 a year in insurance increases and points on your license. Plus you still have to pay the ticket. So for $400.00 you could have peace of mind knowing you will not have to worry about a laser ticket.

But I never have even detected laser in my "speeding area" so I'll have to wait till the cops around here get up to speed. You can get a lawyer here and pay them just as much as the ticket cost and get it thrown out most of the time anyways.
