I'm new here, I came seeking advice on the best way to go about my citation. There isn't really much of a story. This is my first ticket ever, at the age of 25. I was headed home from Sumter, South Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia for the holidays. I was cited doing 83 in a 70. I thought I was doing 80 but it doesn't really matter. The fine is 133, not a crazy fine by any means.
My biggest concern are the points that will go against my license. I believe it is 4 points for going 10+ over. I can't afford to have my insurance premium increase. The officer did mention that should I choose to come to court in a month, that he would 'help me out.' He didn't say much beyond that.
I don't want to fight the ticket, because I'm guilty by all means, I just need to know whats the least damaging option to take. Plead nolo? Should I try and call the officer and ask for his advice? I called the courthouse and they were useless. What are the right questions to ask??
Thank you for any and all information.
