Default Speed Camera Lobbyists go "Dark"

Speed Camera Lobbyists go "Dark"

Back in August of 2007, I published an article on my blog about the profit-motives behind the proliferation of automated photo enforcement: red light cameras, speed on green, and speed cameras/photo radar/photo lidar.

One of the links from that article pointed to a list of professional lobbyists.

A recent check on the site revealed the list has been removed, although I would expect the for-hire paid lobbyists/firms remain.

What happened to public outreach? Sounds more like shine the light in the dark corner and the cockroaches disperse:

Default Thanks to Google and Other Sites...

Even though the list has been removed since my initial blogging of this article, I managed to find portions/remnants of information online:

Redflex Communications Systems 2007 Payment to Lobbyist

It appears that Redflex spent at least $80K with this lobbyist (ie; salesperson) for 2007 for his lobbying efforts, Jackson Kemper, III

Apparently one of his firms, JK3 Associates is registered with the Federal Government, as well:

U.S. Senate Lobbying Disclosure (search for word: Redflex)

Redflex, once again, states the strategic importance of hiring professional lobbyists to augment its sales in its 2007 Financial Report:

The use of external consultants/lobbyists to assist with the sales effort in targeted regions continued in the past financial year, and with this we expect the levels of contract capture to remain consistent in 2008 using both direct and indirect sales force.

In Tennessee, Redflex appears to have hired at least two lobbyists (Joe Hall, Peter Heidenreich):

Lobbyist Index 2006

In Ohio, it appears that lobbyist John Raphael, a former City Council aide, helped Redflex bring redlight cameras to the city of Columbus.

In Minnesota, there may be at least six registered lobbyists, including Ross Kramer (designated lobbyist):

RedFlex Traffic Systems, Minnesota Registered Lobbyists

In RedFlex's 2007/2008 Investor Briefing, they identify paid lobbyists and attorneys (willing to undermine US civil liberties and due process for money) as a an essential "investment."
