Default The Ultimate Radar Detector

I have been given some thought lately as to what would constitute the ultimate radar detector that could be realistically built today.

I have compiled a list of like-to-haves that I think could embody such a radar detector:

Ultimate Radar Detector

What do you guys think?

Talking I like it!

Veil Guy,

It has everything a consumer could ever ask for except you forgot the V1 ramp up and arrows for directional radar/Laser. Combined with everything you have said I believe its more than worth the money.

Actually, I did not forget anything.

The silky smooth ramp-up was mentioned (and I think the Passport 8500 X50 qualifies in that regard) and the arrows (and dual front-rear antennae) are currently under patent by Valentine Research.

As it reads: what Beltronics could realistically build today...

Default The ultimate should have it all!

Veil Guy,

You quoted :In my opinion, such a radar detector could be universally regarded as the most sophisticated and capable (dare I say perfect?) windshield-mount radar detector, yet conceived.

You Quoted: As it reads: what Beltronics could realistically build today...

"So instead of saying ultimate radar detector, maybe say Beltronics/escort ultimate radar detector!"

I agree with your research and your knowledge of radar detector technology, but bob you know I have to challenge you on this one, "just for fun". To have the ultimate radar detector, you must pull technology from all company's not just Bel or escort.

You take the best of Bel, escort, V1, whistler, cobra etc. It kinda sounds like you are more favored toward one brand. Since escort and Bel are basically the same company to me its alittle bias. Don't take that the wrong way. But if I was going to build the ultimate laser jammer, I wouldn't just use Blinders technology. Its always good to have alittle of everything. Don't you agree??

I feel ya...

But in all seriousness, I was merely stating the ultimate radar detector for what could be realistically built today.

Of course, one could theoretically "pull" or "take" technology developed by other companies, and naming arrows and dual antennae design (front/rear) is an obvious "nice-to-have," but this technology from Beltronics and Escort has nothing to do with Valentine Research nor Whistler nor Cobra.

Pulling technology from every company is not realistic because each has their own intellectual property (ie; patents), which I respect, whether we're talking about radar detectors or laser jammers.

You want to regard that as being biased? I don't see that one.

I was merely limiting my discussion to the novel technology developed in-house by both Beltronics and Escort engineering teams and combining the best of each engineering team designs (which has been essentially a separate and independent functions in each respective company).

The Escort Passport 9500ci and the new Beltronics Pro GX65 (BEL GX65) represent something different from each company, in that they represent more of an amalgamation of the best of each of their companies' respective technologies.

My ultimate radar detector would essentially be an extrapolation of that joint development collaboration.

And to be entirely candid, I really am not missing the arrows since I have been experiencing the sheer performance of either the Beltronics and/or Passport remote installs.

Sure, the arrows were a nice to have, but I believe they're not essential and their absence doesn't in any way diminish the significance of either the Beltronics or Escort radar detectors or the engineering accomplishments of each company.

Do you believe this is a biased opinion? Actually, I proffer, it is a reasoned one.

No one has been more historically fair and intellectually honest towards the Valentine One in their reviews, than myself.

But, the simple fact is that these two other radar detectors are incredible and I am simply acknowledging their combined accomplishment.

Trust me, drive with either of them and you'll soon see what I mean.
