I am new to the forum. And this is my first post.I have used Escort ,whistler, and the last one used was Valentine v1.8. Its been about four years since I have used a radar detector(When I stopped commuting to work and sold my Valentine)?Up to that point the Valentine was the best I had ever seen in action.I bought the whole kit from Valentine(Detector, concealed display,And carrying case).I loved it,,,,,the arrows,,,,bogey counters,,,,,and the best feature was the concealed display.
Now it is time to commute once again(and I am looking foward to it).It gives me a reason to buy some new electronics toys and Have some fun with my California highway patrol homies. Now I need serious help deciding what will be my pioson. All my driving will be on flat ,very wide open freeways here in sunny California.
I have been watching Veil's videos on you tube for a while now(and by far the best period) showing the Sti-r,9500ic,valentine, and redline head to head all at the same time. AND IT LOOKS TO ME THAT THE STI-R WINS EVERYTIME. Now with the price of the Sti-r coming way, way, down(closeout).I dont know if I should go with a remote system or dash mount(I was leaning toward a dash mount before the price drop of the Sti-r).I will be doing my commuting in the same car(but it is always nice to be able to put the detector in another car if need be).
To tell you the truth I was heading back towards the Valentine (I have been reading that the new software is pretty good). To me the redline's ramp looks too be too steep(but will be addressed by escort I am sure of it), and I dont really care for the gps on the 9500ix and others(unit technology is able to pinpoint all threats thru gps and send them to your detector).
I have been looking at the:
and so on
Now for the reason for the title Sti-r .Is it that awesome(towering over all detectors) Than I find it to be the only choice. This is where I need input from all you Sti-r owners ............ and maybe running the sti-r and maybe the Valentine at the same time could also be an option...I need help now.
