Default What Makes the Best Radar Detector, the Best?

Deciding on what makes the best radar detector, the best, often boils down. for many, to its sensitivity (ie; its range) or its selectivity (ie; how quiet it is).

There are those owners of any given radar detector that have made their purchasing choice based on one (or both) of these primary performance attributes and defending that choice [to others] can sometimes get heated since each of these performance attributes are, at times, at odds with one another and therefore, the choices may be, as well.

To celebrate the Escort's Redline introduction, I felt it appropriate timing to explore this matter further and more thoroughly than other radar detector reviewers have done in the past as there is more to radar detector performance than just sensitivity and/or selectivity.

For those new or potentially new to radar detector ownership, there may be certain concepts expressed that you have never encountered as yet.

Therefore, please feel free to ask questions in this forum if you would like something elaborated. Speedtraphunter.net has some pretty knowledgeable and experienced members and no question is a dumb question (only the question not asked).

I hope you find the following article illuminating on the subject of what makes the best radar detector, the best:

Default New Escort Redline versus Beltronics STi Driver

Is there a significant difference between the new Redline and the STi Driver? I just purchased the Bel Driver and a few days later Escort brings the Redline to the market...................confusing...........in reading the details, specs, etc. I can't tell the differnence between the two.

Do I return the Driver and buy the Redline...........keep the Driver...........or buy the Valentine, like I should have in the beginning? I'm a bit disappointed in Belscort!

Is Escort/Bel manufacturing same but "different" models just to gain a larger share of the marketplace?

the Redline will perform like an STI R and 9500CI where the STI Driver performs like a 9500ix/9500i
