That is a FAIR and HONEST offer. Buy both PURE retail and watch the difference

Craig, to be honest, you lose all credibility when one reads your reviews. I am definitely NOT a V1 zombie, but your reviews of the V1 are far off base. I have owned many V1s, X50s, and an STi Driver. I prefer Belscorts myself, but I don't try to convince anyone to buy one over any other.

Here's where you lose credibility:

On 1/14/2007 you say you tested the 8500 in 2001 and called it the world's best detector, then pat yourself on the back saying you called it right the first time.

Then on 1/23/2007 inexplicably, you have a showdown with the Bel STi Driver and the Valentine One, to find which is the World's Best????? 9 DAYS BEFORE THAT ARTICLE YOU DECLARED THE X50 THE WORLD'S BEST!!!!!

Dear Haymondsridgerunner:

Unlike some, I test radar detectors grouped by price. For comparison purposes occasionally a proven performer like the V1 or Escort Passport 8500 X50 is used as a benchmark.

I’m a bit surprised you failed to notice that the text of the BELtronics STi Driver vs. Valentine One story carried this prominent mention:

“The first contender was the Valentine One, base-priced at $399 plus shipping. Fitted with optional accessories to match some of the features standard on its competitor, the $449.95 BEL STi Driver, it can cost up to $540.

Until the arrival of the STi Driver in 2006 the Valentine One was the only dash-mount model in this over-$400 segment.

Translation: I ranked the BEL STi Driver as the world’s best over-$400 radar detector. (The V1 in that test was fitted with two options to bring it somewhat into parity with features standard on the BEL: remote display ($39) and carrying case ($29). Total: $467 plus shipping.

And don’t get too worked up about story dates. My Webmaster set the story-date window to reflect the date of the last change made to a story. Even correcting a misplaced comma automatically generates a date coinciding with that change. The BEL vs. Escort vs. Valentine story was published in 2005.

Take a Valium and try to get some rest.

Craig

My, all those years of "experience", and you forget to explain in your review that you only mean world's best in a given $ category. Funny, the "World's Best" was only $299.99 retail, versus the V1 at $399.99 retail ( I guess the extra two pennies would put it in the over $400 category?). And adding all those accessories to the V1 to make it over $500 is priceless......really. I currently own 2 X50s and 1 plain 8500, and I don't use the "carrying case" they come in, and nobody I have ever seen use a Belscort product has either.

Like I stated before, I am not a V1 fanatic, I don't currently own one. I use Belscort products exclusively. Your bias is very obvious to me.

You remind me of a certain politician that likes to keep changing the goalposts while the game is being played.
