Default Install on Wireless Cheetah Units

Hey Al,

I was over at megamaxxx yesterday, and we were discussing installs for the wireless cheetah kits that are fitted with a radar detector and laser jammer. The installers tell me its harder to do installs on the cheetah kits because, everything has to be put under the hood. They said that doing a normal hard wiring of the blinder seperate from the cheetah is easier than doing the combined wireless setup with the M-25. Also some installers tell me they have to figure out how everything works with the cheetah before the install. Another words its a pain in the butt. Do you have any feed back for these type of issue's? What would you recommend to make installs easier?

Hmmm....
let's see....
they say it's easier to drill into a firewall, get under the dash panel, find and tap into a hot, mount the control box, drill into the dash to mount the kill switch and connect the LED, than it is to connect to the battery and mount the kit next to it?

Well, I suppose if all that can be done in 5 minutes, more power to them.

I have found that many installers who don't understand something new, can't seem to grasp the "ease of things"

Here's a video link showing a 5 minute install in "real time" with a Blinder.

Now of course, mounting and leveling of the heads is most time consuming, so I suppose we could time them from that point and see how they do.

Here's a cliffs notes version of the install:

The kits come "pre-wired" meaning it is ready to connect to the battery, and plug in the Blinder control box, not much to figure out.
Place the Blinder control box into the waterproof box, and it's done.

Then just plug in the supplied wireless receiver into the cig lighter and you are ready.
When you start the car, the Blinder starts, and when you shut it off, the Blinder shuts off.
The only thing this video doesn't show is the STEALTHnode remote key chain, so we'll work on an updated video.

Default I thought So :)

Don,

Hey buddy, its about time you came on over to the real Radar/laser detector forum. Ha! Ha! Yeah, I think since the guys over at Megamaxx aren't to familar with the cheetah products is why they feel its harder. I saw this video and didn't realize how fast and easy it was to install a laser jammer system to the Cheetah. Not bad my friend, Not bad. Maybe i need to become a installer. Cool!

They're "overthinking" it!

Why did they feel that they had to figure it all out first instead of just following the installation instructions? The issue is probably because they've never seen anything like our little power sensing gizmo before so they trying to figure out how on earth it can possibly work rather than just accepting that it does and get on with the job. We designed it so that a complete novice with zero experience of car electrics can safely fit and power 12V accessories under the hood in seconds. Sometimes installers tend to overcomplicate it because they initially assume that it just can't be that simple.

In my experience, installers tend to fall into two camps. The "I've always done things this way" group and they tend to struggle with the first job because it is too simple and it goes against what they've always done before. Then there's a second group who realise that it can save them up to an hour on the job so they can get more done in a day.

Consumers just do it and it works. In fact the only real problem a consumer encounters is that they forget they have to start the car's engine for the jammer assembly to switch on.

On a side note:
If someone does want to go to the trouble of fitting the Blinder traditionally and having the Blinder kit inside the car, they are obviously free to do that. If you still want the Blinder alerts to come through the mirror, you can just hardwire our interface inside the car too, in the traditional way, so that it passes power through to the Blinder control box and takes the Audio out from it. If you're doing an instal from scratch it takes longer but say someone already had a Blinder fitted and then bought the GPSmirror and wanted them both to work together, that's what they'd do. In those circumstances you don't have to move an existing blinder instal to the engine bay - you just hook it all up inside the car.

I guess some people just like making it hard for themselves.
