Hi everyone I am new here.


I just ordered a Whistler XTR-690SE should have it sometime this coming week.

Two questions really first one being do you think this model is a good one???

Secondly when did they first make this one did I buy a previous years model???

I have a 1670 now will I notice a big difference??

Welcome to our forum!

The 690SE is a current model first introduced for the 2009 model year.

Whistler has not yet announced or released new products for this 2010 model year. They generally do this later in the season in the spring time.

In otherwords, you have purchased a current model!

You should get a lot of enjoyment out of that model. It's performance levels (particularly with Ka-band) is exceptional.

So after using the 1670 there should be a difference between day and night then because the 1670 is about 7 or 8yrs old I think........

I like the KA band part (Is there a noticeable difference between max and standard KA settings) because the wife and I drive a lot in the states and I like to clip along if you know what I mean........

Does it pickup KU band as well??

* X-band 10.525 GHz ± 25 MHz
* K-band 24.150 GHz ± 100 MHz
* Ka-band 34.700 GHz ± 1300 MHz
* Ku-band 13.425 GHz ± 25 MHz
* Laser: 904nm, 33MHz bandwidth

Negative on Ku-band, but that band is only used slightly in certain easter european countries, certainly not in North America.


I believe the apparent performance difference between Ka-max and Ka standard are varied. Sometimes is more noticeable than other times. However, I would tend to always recommend that you run the Whistler's in Ka-max.

Why not benefit from the increased sensitivity, instead of weaning it?
