Veil Guy,

I would like to do additional testing on the K1200S rear now that I have a jammer installed there. Also would like to see the effectiveness of the Passport SRX and those jammers that are on my Porsche C4S. (The M3 is now forsale. ) I may add Blinders if needed.

Outrun said the guns are at Blinder forthe hollidays so maybe the first of the year.

Walt

Walt,

How are you enjoying your C4S? Is the handling at a higer level than your M3? Are you going to become a "convert" Porschefile?

I plan on traveling to Florida and back during the course of an extended road-trip during which time I expect to be pounding-out some extensive reviews for some upcoming web material. If you would be willing to make the trip to Florida we could do some laser testing. I expect to be working with several police lasers while in Florida.

Veil Guy,
I love the C4S and it does handle at a higher level than the M3. I believe the reasons are:
1. Much larger tires. 305's in the rear.
2. Active suspension
3. 4-wheel drive. The fronts pull a min of 5% and a max of 40%. So, not only is it being pushed from the back but also pulled from the front. This creates very little understeer.

The M3 is an incredible automobile however I give the edge to the C4S when it comes to cornering. The M3 SMG can shift much faster with the paddles and that puts if pretty close to the C4S in acceleration.
M3= 333HP C4S= 355HP Both weight around 3400 LBS.

The bad about C4S is there is very little room to carry stuff with you. The fwd trunk in even smaller than usual because of the forward drive mech.

In a perfect world I would love to keep both but I can not justify it. Neither would see action in bad weather and in good weather the Cab would be my typcal choice.

As for convert? I had a 99 996 Cab before the M3 and my heart has always leaned towards Porsche.

Sorry but I don't see driving to Florida for testing with my schedule and would rather not jack that many miles on the car.

WB,

Very cool. One of these days I am going to get around to checking out a Cayman S.

I've have come to believe that four-wheel/awd vehicles tend to understeer in general. It sounds like Porsche may have it right with what appears to be rear-wheel bias. Am I correct in this? As to why the car handles in a more neutral fashion (and despite having its engine hang over its rear axle)?

I have enjoyed the Z4 but my understanding is Porsche is more pure. BMW's active steering (and other gizmos) IMO detract from the pure driving pleasures that I believe Porsche is adhering too.

Perhaps when the season changes next year...

We've got some things in the works that I will talk to about offline, perhaps when you get together with Outrun, you can check them out when you do your testing in Texas. I believe you will like what you see.

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving Holiday.
