Default International Distributor for Veil G4

Al,

We are in the process of establishing an international distributor for Veil.

Once our production of Veil G4 ramps up completely, then we are expecting that you will be able to acquire it directly in Eire.

I'm late to the party.

2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT, Atlantic Blue Pearl.

One coat of G4 on each of the headlamps, nothing on the fogs.

I know, I know....but that's a compromise I had to make, as my fogs are fitted with selective-yellow Narva Golds, they already have somewhat decreased lighting output versus "white" (at the same power supplied), and I did not what to decrease their potential utility.

The headlights utilize a 65 watt solution (Osram "Hyper") for the factory 55W low-beams, with an HIR1 fitted in place of the factory high-beams. I do not notice any significant dimming of the high-beams at all, and in so far as I can tell, the low-beams seem to be only slightly reduced output, versus what I was used to with the 65 watt'ers. I'd estimate low-beam output to be somewhere between that of what I saw with the factory 55 watt capsules, and the aftermarket 65s.

There's only slight hazing of the cut-off line (the BL/BP chassis's low-beam projectors are known to be among the superior examples of the incandescent-projector optics breed, and have very, very tightly controlled cut-offs), and I do not anticipate this to be of any concern for oncoming traffic, in terms of rendering additional glare.

My CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent) "DDE" halo rings do seem to be a bit more fuzzy/hazy, but they burn through quite nicely, still.

I've noticed no significant "bluing" of the appearance of my headlight output, despite the noticeable blue-ish tint rendered to the headlight housings, as seen in the above pix (it should be noted that this "bluish tint" to the headlight housing/lens is something that many on RD.net have observed, with G4, versus the more grey tint of G2; with more coats of G4, the coloration will shift more towards grey-black).

Up-close, my application (using the two smaller foam brushes) is far from perfect. There's actually quite a bit of streaking, which is easily visible from about 10 ft. away, when the car's freshly washed - to about 5 ft. away, after a few days of road-use, when road-dust helps "smooth out" the finish.

Although I believe that this was due, completely, to "operator error" (i.e. my fault), as I tried too much to smooth-out the initial application strokes, I also think that G4 dries/sets somewhat faster than G2.... While I cannot make any conclusive claims as to that effect - since it may well be ambient conditions that led to such a feeling - this also has been noted from several other long-time VEIL users on RD.net. So, FWIW, YMMV.

Overall, I am *very* impressed with the improvements made in terms of overall appearance as well as optical clarity, with the G4, versus G2. I was actually so impressed that I went ahead and bought a second can:

I still have about a 1/2 a can of G2 left, which I will continue to apply to the rentals cars that my family typically uses to take road-trips with. As with G4, G2 comes off quite readily and cleanly, with high-grade ethanol.

---

After seeing [b]Veil Guy[/i]'s IR videos, I've also applied VEIL to the exposed jammer mounting hardware on my vehicle's front-end.

I plan to, for my next G4 application, to use the wet-sanding and airbrush techniques that sbfuller detailed on his motorcycle, on RD.net, and also, at that time, address the "caps" on my vehicle's two external rearview mirrors, which covers underlying LED-based turn-signal repeater elements. At that time, I will likely also do the same for my windshield-wiper arms.

Default Incredible Veil G4 Application

TSi+WRX,

Your application appears to me to be about the most impressive I have yet seen.

Exceptionally well done!

Thanks, Veil Guy.

But unfortunately, up-close, it's far from perfect. It's just my lack of photography skills that make the application seem so nice!

My next application is sure to be better, though. I actually plan to strip and re-apply in the coming weeks (given sufficient clear days in the forecast), as local temperatures are getting into the range where it's *perfect* for VEIL curing.

I'm entertaining the thought of taking the headlights out (I've done this several times on my car, in modifying various aspects of the lights, both internally as well as externally), as well as using airbrush, but the timing may not work out. Even so, the application should still be much, much better, as there's more than enough space in the body-panel gaps ( hey, it's a Subaru, not a Lexus! ) to effect good masking.

Thanks again, for a great product that keeps getting better!
