Don't you think with this title "If God had a radar detector it be a V1!!" you just a tad biased? I owned a v1 at one time and god didn't help me avoid too many tickets with it. That's why I switched to a Bell which I have been more then happy with..

Default Not really

Bias No, Favorites yes,

The V1 has been stomping on the Bel's since its introduction in 1992. Now the Bel is a great performer, but in recent testing with GOL and radarone, and others, the V1 is just better in sensitivity.

Ok V1 Fanboy believe what you like.

Bell detectors have always had great radar detection abilities.... Period.

You quote the "gays of lidar" a bunch of prancing semi-intelligent used police radar owners and speeders who have had to resort to cutting down their used and abused e-bay police radar units range with radar absorbers rather then find proper sites to actually test out new radar detectors top ranges. A group using used radar and lidar units that I would bet haven't even been tested out and recalibrated since they were built as valid proof? A radar site developed by an ex-police radar cop to sell radar detectors after he was drumed out of road patrol over his illegal direct TV dealings? Try again...

Btw the v1 is so darn sensitive because it's filtering is so darn bad. It sqawks so many false warnings one feels they are driving with "chicken little"

Why is it the passion surrounding the V1 tends to be so intense/contentious? This I can never understand.

Personally I like/appreciate them all and happily drive with any of the top performing radar detectors, in today's world, they all have their pluses [and minuses] but they're all so damn good today!

Can we all be agreeably disagreeable? No need to bash anyone to make a point.

Remember we are all on the same side, at the end of the day, regardless of the tools we each choose to use.

I know the Guys of Lidar have taken a lot of hits for testing with radar-absorbing foam, however I think it is important to remember, whatever the setup was, all of the radar detectors were presented with the same environment.

And frankly, mind blowing tests which demonstrate 10-mile plus ranges don't amount to much in the real-world, in my opinion. When has anyone really received such warnings in areas where we spend most of the time driving.

In their defense, they did attempt to test [without interference] in the vastness of the AZ desert even though they ended-up [unfortunately] being interfered with in the end.

While individually we each may have disagreements with their techniques or approaches, I do believe they [the core team] are well intended.

Finally, for what its worth, I know Jimbonzzz, and he is about as sharp as they come, IMO.

And, when Roy owned and operated his radar detector retailing business, I believe his customer support and dedication to his customers were at the highest levels I have ever seen. I really can't say I know of one RadarBusters customer which had a legitimately bad experience in all of my years working with him...he was that dedicated to his business and his customers.

There are a lot of "takers" in this business, I like to think that Radar Roy gave much more back than most (and still does). To be entirely candid, although I was thrilled for Roy personally, I am sorry that he sold his business, because he was a real pleasure to work with on a day-to-day basis and I believe this industry would not have been as strong (certainly not as fun) had he not been involved with it.

At least we have another "good guy" who still is actively involved in the responsible retailing of all of this equipment...and that's Danny [and Frank] at Buy Radar Detectors.

Peace be the journey.

Veil Guy

Default Thank You Veil Guy :)

Bob,

You could not have said it better. I totally agree with you on Roy and about Guys Of Lidar. This discussion on the V1 and Bel I was not expecting. I like both radar detectors as I said before. Both are outstanding. I liked how GOL sets up their testing ground. I believe its just as good of testing as speedzones or radartest.com does. We can all have our favorite radar detectors. But as Veil guy said we are all on the same team at the end of the day. Remember stalkervision I'm not bashing Beltronics, I just happen to own a V1 and like it better. Thats all! Thank you veil guy for your reply on this.

Sincerly,

Georgia Boy
