Default Close call with the Town of Amherst PD and LIDAR

I was coming home from the movies yesterday afternoon with my wife and son, and one of his buddies from school, driving along I-290 West approximately 4:30ish. There was a car in front of me, about a car length or so in distance. Here is a picture of the encounter, courtesy of Google Earth:

RED indicates the position of the LEO (in a slick-top cruiser no less). YELLOW indicates the car in front of me and GREEN is me. The LEO was sitting in one of those "No U-Turn" areas. You'll notice that on the eastbound side there is an overhead sign, and is on a slight curve. I sighted him just as I was passing the sign on the westbound side (doing about 70 MPH - PSL is 55), and I started picking up LIDAR. Mind you, this is the first time I have ever encountered the Town of Amherst using LIDAR on I-290. I slowed to about 65, killed the jammers, and prayed to God. Not soon after I killed the jammers, it stopped alerting. I passed him, and sure enough he pulled out right behind me. I was thinking, "Did I kill them too soon???" as I was crapping my pants. I went with traffic for a little while further, found an opening in the center lane, and moved in, still thinking the LEO was going to pull me over. I saw him pass me by without a second look, then rejoiced when he got the guy who was initially in front of me!!! I am not sure what gun the LEO was using. That was TOO damn close for my liking...
