In my opinion if all you are looking for is a detector that can pickup radar signals as far as 2-9 miles out and don't care for lots of fancy features, then the V1 "ValentineOne" is the best choice. Its also the only radar detector that has arrows and tells you where the cop is sitting. It is also the only radar detector with a true front and rear radar/laser antenna. Checkout "valentineOne.com." If your looking for GPS,SWS, and lots of features then the Escort 9500i or Beltronics RX65 is a good choice too. I personally have had my V1 for 8 years and have only sent it in for one upgrade in 8 years for POP mode. The V1 is king in my book. Everyone has their favorites.

All of the radar detectors will pick up laser. Some better than others. The V1 is the best for laser detection. The escort and Beltronics are close behind. If you really want a good radar detector for the money and are not looking to pay a arm and a leg the whistler XTR 695 is a great bargain.

I think i am leaning towards a new item.The Escort SRX with laser shifters front and rear, pricey but i think well worth the protection, every time it sounds off thats an extra 200-300 dollars for beer or whatever.
