RE: Redflex's Latest Marketing PR 'Information Awareness' Campaign
Good day,
I know [of] your client's marketing-plan, as I have already read
RedFlex's Stock Holders Report and watched their 'safety' (i.e.; sales)
power point presentation(s).
I just received an email from a friend of mine--who happens to be connected with the press [and who was forcibly removed with threats of incarceration by law enforcement personnel for attempting to merely be in attendance at a similar/related seminar--clearly infringing on
his 1st amendment rights and the rights of a free press]--inviting members [of the press] to attend yet another one of these professionally marketed [and paid for by RedFlex] 'safety seminars' which 'proclaim' the 'validity' and 'safety' importance of their for-profit products and services aimed at state and local governments.
The timing of such a marketing piece, is interesting, to say the least.
Grassroots campaigns (by definition) are
not funded by for-profit companies, nor governments, they
are campaigns of citizens to call for a
redress of specific grievances against corporate and/or government policy.
Their marketing release of 06 Aug 07, 1025:
Expert Availability: Photo-Enforcement Experts Shed Light on Traffic Camera Debates
I would like to make a counter-offer to your client's presentation offer.
RedFlex, its corporate managers, their staff, their 'paid' experts and lobbyists are welcome to join our town hall, right here, and in this forum to openly and candidly discuss and be subject to real questions from real citizens--who are concerned about the bigger picture--the erosion and usurpation of our civil liberties by the use of these systems within our free-society.
For it is the
U.S. citizens who own their government--which [was] founded by
them to serve them and is bought and paid for by them [as U.S. taxpayers]
and the
blood of
brave men and women who have defended and are defending our(your) freedoms and the
sacrifices of their families.

Freedom is not free, but the U.S. Marine Corps will pay most of your share." -Ned Dolan
If you have a sales pitch to make, make it to them (here) for we are the ultimate decisions makers in our country.
I can understand if those concepts are not easily understand by RedFlex [or others like them established in foreign countries] as they are based in another country which do not have or subscribe to our founding documents (ie; Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Bill of Rights) all of which were/are designed to protect its citizenry from over-reach of
any state and/or federal government (and not just the U.S.).
Perhaps, more than ever, at these globally connected times, these documents and their original intent are the
most meaningful.
But, be prepared for honest, frank, and open discussion, for
your team will not be able to bully any participant into silence, here.
Unlike citizens of other countries, not only do we have the inalienable rights to do so, but a
moral and civic duty [as U.S. citizens] to
hold our elected leaders to account.
And please, if you really want to have a complete team, be prepared to address constitutionally-minded lawyer(s) willing to express reasoned and opposing points (which have nothing to do with traffic statistics) as well discuss the legal entanglements (resulting from the use of these systems) extant in such places of Albuquerque, N.M., Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Perrysburg, Ohio and Lubbock, Texas by American Traffic Systems (allegedly where the city's own traffic engineering department
refused to look into
engineering improvements, had illegally shortened the yellow-light transition times to unsafe short duration and later established these systems at less 'dangerous' intersections to
maximize profits.*)
Unlike, our European partner nations, our society has
four key checks-and-balances: Executive, Legislative, Judiciary, and most importantly the Electorate--the [Voting] U.S. Citizen.
At the end of the day, your campaign is not about enhancing driver safety, it is about the health and well-being of our long-established civil liberties--something that falls under the purview of such organizations like the
Constitutional Society and the
American Civil Liberties Union--here in the U.S.--and
Amnesty International, abroad.
This
is the overriding issue,
not [questionable] traffic statistics.
Welcome to the U.S., this is not the E.U., Britain, nor Australia.
Since an immediate trip is not possible for myself personally, your are
welcomed to engage us in
dialogue.
In the event you are not aware of my perspective on this complex and important topic, please read the following:
And please, since your paid marketing firm (and your client's supportive lobbying efforts) are
meddling with our civil liberties, be mindful not to
sell out our country's founding principles for mere profit.
And while I certainly
acknowledge that
free citizens have a moral and civic duty to do their part in acting and behaving responsibly [as
free citizens], we most never forget these brilliant words:
"Freedom is not defined by safety. Freedom is defined by the ability of citizens to live without government interference." Ron Paul,
Defender of our U.S. Constitution.
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.
"My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man."
'
Constitutionalism — Sometimes equated with the "Rule of Law", holds that government can and should be legally limited in its powers, and that its authority depends on enforcing those limitations.'
