Holy insane on the West-Side!

The wifey and I traveled out West, to Crocker Park, to get a gift-certificate for our nanny, this past weekend.

We were in the wifey's WRX, which has no countermeasures save my old Rev 5 x50, mounted high - hardwired for quick plug-in in her car, with the wiring totally concealed, and the SmartCord remote in the ashtray cubby:

^ It's actually usually mounted just a bit higher than this. This detector is taken, with the mount, on and off the windshield every time I use it in the wifey's car, as she doesn't like to have a detector.

I knew we should've taken my car, instead!

No, I didn't get a ticket - I knew that there'd likely be some enforcement on the particular stretch that I'll bring up in a second, so it was an "eye save," as I saw the "wolf pack" in front of me light-up its brakes ... but it would've been fun.

The stretch of I-90, westbound, both in Rocky River and Westlake, was literally INFESTED with enforcers this past weekend.

Almost all had customers, and the single one which did not, was actively scouting, via LIDAR - and if the WRX had been hit, I received no alert, from my high-mounted Rev 5 (but this is unlikely, as I'd pulled in to the main-flow, well-before I'd crested the hill, into enforcement line-of-sight).

Of course, the wifey made fun of me: "why didn't your detector go off?"

In all of my years in and traveling through all areas of Ohio (since 1997), I've never seen this:

Ohio State Highway Police - K-band.

The Trooper was blasting through the lanes, trying to catch-up to his customer.

I believe that the Trooper engaged with I/O K-band. The alert I received (face-on, across a 6-lane divided highway) was too short for it to have been anything other, even given the limited sightlines.

During pursuit and when he initiated the take-down, he kept his K-band blaring on C/O, as an added traffic-warning/safety measure. I was able to receive reflections from this signal, after having passed him, for well over a half-mile.

This means I've seen the Holy-Trinity of RADAR for Ohio's State Highway Patrol - Ka, K, and X, in both I/O and C/O.

And, of course, LIDAR.
