Guys of Lidar The Guys of LIDAR were formed in mid-2005 by a group of enthusiasts who met via the Internet interested in conducting controlled performance comparison tests. Today, the GoL have developed a faithful following who have come to appreciate their approach and shared passion. The opinions expressed by the Guys of Lidar are solely their own and not necessarily representative of speedtraphunter.net.

Default Laser Jammer Test 2008: Guys of Lidar

The results are now official!

The Guys of Lidar got together a little while ago to conduct, what appears to me to be, a most comprehensive laser jammer/countermeasure comparison test.

While some may pick at this or that as not being "perfect" (what is?), I would like to simply acknowledge their achievement.

As some of you may know, I was pleased to be part of the crew at the very beginning (when we got together purely as a group of enthusiasts sharing a common passion) and it is truly wonderful to behold the evolution of the GoL through all of the ups and downs over the years, since.

Others may self-proclaim that they are the "best" (in testing sites), but at least in my mind, I can say with certainty that the Guys of Lidar are the best.

My hat is off to all of you guys for continuing to do what you do and how you do it (while at the same time resisting the impulse to sell yourselves out to promote/sell any products).

You guys are the platinum standard.

Congratulations!

Veil Guy

Thanks Bob for your kind words. You hold the platinum standard for your REAL world RD tests, which by the way am so glad to be part of, and your remarkable RD laser reception test, which to this day NO ONE has come close to topping. It was a pleasure testing Veil G4 and I could kick myself in the head for not Veiling the fog lights! I could only imagine how much better the results could have been (not that they were not already great).

Default Great Job

Hats off to GOL. Best Jammer test I've seen yet.

I am in the market for a 4 head jammer system to put on my 997 C4S and was leaning towards the LI since it did so well in the GOL testing. Steagal says to avoid it though since the LI was "juiced" in the testing as well as that they have serious reliability problems. He also said the Blinder did not have any issues with the Ultralyte, however in the GOL test it appears to have had burn through anywhere from 500-1000 feet. Although I am not a JTG worrier, the 1,000 foot range burn through is a problem for me.
My plan is to put 3 heads in the front and one in the rear.
Not going to Veil. Sorry VG, just not going to darken my headlights.

Any suggestions as to which way to go? Not concerned with the money aspect but the true performance it critical to me.

Also, isn't the LI software upgradable? My understanding is the next version of the blinder may be also. Having the ability to update to address new guns like the Truespeed would be a great feature.

Thoughts or suggestions?

Walt

In all honesty the new Blinders are awesome and reliable. You can not go wrong with them. The LI has not proven itself in terms of reliability in the long run. As far as performance it is INCREDIBLE and on a league of its own but if it is not going to last then what good will that do for you? The Blinder is my personal TOP choice in terms of an overall package (CS,performance, reliability)
