Default Passport 9500i vs Passport 9500ix

I basically think of a 9500ix as a 9500i with a built-in photo enforcement database primarily.

You probably won't encounter many red-light camera systems on the highway and speed cameras haven't yet made it to NE highways.

You also may find an 8500 x50 also sufficient to your specific needs as well as a Beltronics RX-65 for a bit less coin.

What is different about the 8500 x50 and RX-65 from the 9500i or xi? Are they as responsive and have as few false alarms as the 9500?

It all depends on what you consider a 'false' alarm.

Stationery locations of door openers of x band and k band are bonafide sources of radar even if not police radar. Technically they are not falses.

Emissions from cheap radar detectors often on the frequency band of the very wide ka band are more the sources of falses.

If your primary interest is in having a detector quiet to the first type mentioned then either the 9500i or 9500ix can provide the ability to permanently lock out (by gps coords) such sources. The 9500ix can also be configured to do this automatically. But be aware that this approach is not fullproof. In some instances users have reported real police radar being locked out!

If you are more concerned about the latter, then either the 8500 x50 or rx65 should prove just fine.

I think The VEIL Guy covered it all. I'm in-agreement with everything.

So if you had to suggest one of the four for me what would it be?

1) With no price limits in mind?
2) Best value and not trying to go crazy on money?

Thanks
Luke
