Given Escort's recent public announcement of the up and coming
Escort Passport Redline radar detector, I am heartened to read in their announcement that the Escort Passport Redline radar detector will be all about performance with an emphasis on no-holds-barred sensitivity and (I hope) quickness and a de-emphasis on being heavily filtered (to reduce falses). It sounds like the new Escort Redline model will finally unlock the potential of the M3 platform in a windshield-mount.
Generally, this is something that I believed has been historically accomplished by the Beltronics brand with the models of the
Beltronics STi Driver and the
Beltronics STi-R radar detectors.
I am pleased that with the Escort Passport Redline, Escort customers will now have a viable alternative to the otherwise
Escort Passport 9500ix (a radar detector with an emphasis on filtering and being quiet). The only other available from Escort was the $1600
Escort Passport 9500ci customer installed remote.
At least now with the Escort Passport Redline, extreme performance appears to be finally coming in a small package.
Now I am waiting for the addition of two things, GPS capability (for photo detection and variable sensitivity) and
Shifter ZR4 interfacing capability.
I still believe that model would be the
ultimate windshield-mount radar detector.
I trust, in time, we'll see that model, as well.

If they have made this as sensitive as the v1 (and from what they've said so far it's even better) and it doesn't false as much as the v1, then this will be a great detector to have in your countermeasures arsenal, even though it may not have fancy features.
