I'm glad you didn't post this on RD.net,
VEIL Guy - for you would've gotten blasted on this, there........
I'm almost 100% positive that
erickonphoenix uses G4 on his current ride.
I know, for sure, that he used (at least for a while) G2 on Starla, his previous "lab vehicle."
And as proof that he uses G4 on his current vehicle (Starla was the name of his "retired" silver C6, on which he did wind up removing the G2 due to light-output/pattern disruptions) ->
Worlds longest VEIL post. - Radar Detector Jammer Forum - note that all of his frontal lighting elements, on his current GTO, has been dressed extensively with G4.

^ The black GTO is
erick's ride, and as you can see in the videos, it does cite that his ZR3 is paired with VEIL.
erickonphoenix has
always been a user of VEIL, and is also a big proponent of the "DiD" concept. His "Speeding Texans: pull your front plate" thread on RD.net shows this to be the case in no uncertain terms.
Even though
erick isn't on this Forum, I think that as a fellow brother of the community, an apology is due, given his track record as a strong VEIL proponent throughout the years.......
---
I do *not* think that this particular failure can be blamed on the lack of passive countermeasures - or, for that matter, even his choice of continuing to use the ZR3.
To the best of my recall, I think that
erick even pulled his front plate, or is likely using another replica plate (
note: no further point-protection is possible for his front plate, due to his local area's plate laws and his local enforcer's attitudes towards front plate law enforcement).
His ZR3/VEIL setup has saved him many, many, many times versus the enforcers of his area (HPD, which almost exclusively uses the PL3 for laser enforcement) - his blog on his own website,
www.erickohphoenix.com , as well as his many candid posts on RD.net both testifiy to this fact.
This was a simple inevitability, given how aggressively brother
erick drives.
I'm in agreement with
steagall - this was just a matter of the enforcer having gotten lucky on this particular run.
We're *always* playing the odds, no matter what our countermeasures are or how "complete" we perceive them to be.
All the other side needs is just one fluke, one little "by chance" difference.
erick, himself, knows this.
The continuing discussion on the technical merits of this particular encounter is available for full review on the RD.net Forums:

A good lesson to us all.
We all have to cowboy-the-F-up and pay the piper, some time. We chose to bend or break the law, we know the consequences.
