Cobra XRS-9960G, Beltronics GX65, Passport 9500ix, Cheetah C100 Video
I take four leading GPS detectors and pit them against the red-light monitored intersections of North East Philadelphia.
Lisa and I used our reference GPS detector, the Cheetah C100 (and its sister product, the GPS Mirror) and compared it the latest GPS-enabled radar detectors, the Cobra XRS-9960G, Beltronics GX65, and the Passport 9500ix.
That was tremendously, informative, VEIL Guy, thank you!
As a Cheetah GPS-Mirror user (as well as user of the Escort 9500i), I've often wondered if there would be any advantages to also updating my 9500i to an ix.
Truthfully, I think that the only thing to be gained would be the arrow indication of the camera location....but I am not sure if I could stand the overlapping alerts.
And for as much as I appreciate the subtle nature of the alerts on my GPS-Mirror (which is something that I require, given the preferences of my primary passengers) I also really like how eye-grabbing the alert graphics are on the Cobra.
Thanks. I am glad you found it so, as it was a b#@ch to render as the source material was HD. The subsequent rendered file was 2.2GB!
I agree, beyond its very good laser performance, the manner in which this detector alerts to photo enforcement locations, is most impressive for a radar detector. It's alert chimes are very very appealing in sound.
If Cobra addressed its radar alert "ramping" nature (via software) that would go along way to making such a detector, quite desirable overall, IMHO.
