Cheetah speaker/ voice thin and annoying? 9500ix vs Cheetah Mirror
I'm looking into getting a Cheetah GPS mirror to either go with my 8500 X50 or get the new 9500ix and what it seems to come down to me, personally, is the thin annoying voice/ sound I hear on these Cheetah Mirror youtube vid clips.
I see no particular advantage as far as Radar function from Escort 8500 X50 to 9500ix. X50 is perfectly apt in detection area as far as I'm concerned.
The thing with Cheetah is I might have to get the $100-ish Cheetah interface to X50 besides $300 main mirror unit and this system is not as self contained and tidy as Escort... and most of all if the actual unit sound as thin and annoying that'll give me the headaches... compared to the 9500ix's much more real dimensional voice. There is a Radar Roy's vid clip that has both of the voices and you can tell the difference.
How is the sound of this Cheetah mirror in real life?
Also another important thing to me is how many entries can you "mark" on the 9500ix? I know you can mark 100 on the Cheetah.

For the past couple of days, I've been having trouble logging on to RD.net, but if you can link to the posts/videos here, particularly from YouTube, I'll see if I can't give it a listen, as I have both the GPS-Mirror and the 9500i, and see how accurate the on-line representation may be.
What I can tell you - by *MY* ears - is that yes, the GPS-Mirror's voice seems to offer a little less "depth" than that of the 9500i, but I think that this may be both volume-related as well as positional...not to mention just individual personal-perception variance.

I unfortunately do not know the answer to this one.

I was thinking it might be something to do with the thin housing of the "mirror." This shape might not be as effective as a 'speaker cabinet' so to speak than the conventional box shape of 9500ix as well as limitation of the size and the shape of the speaker itself.
Also I haven't actually seen or handled the Cheetah Mirror unit itself but could it possibly be the quality of speaker and the construction of the unit?
Anyhow it's pretty important, i.e., sound quality and the non-irritability of it since I'll have to put up with it daily.... but if I'm wrong about this I'd rather save $$$ and get the Cheetah as I can use it in Europe as well if I am there... as well as save on the cost of the database subscription.
I paid a bit more attention to my units this AM, and I think that a lot of what you're hearing above, the differences, via these videos, is due to recording artifact.
To me, indeed, as I've said before, there's just a slight bit of difference, and it does favor the 9500i, in terms of tonal depth/quality. However, this difference is truly "slight," and I do think that the difference in volume adjustment between the units (I have the mirror louder than the detector), as well as the placement, contributes.
I wish I could better help, but this is a very difficult question!
