Absolutely right.
Our interface analyses the audio to determine what alerts are being given out. This is what allows us to work across different manufacturers and to make it future proof. When someone changes detectors or perhaps has multiple detectors that they use, there is no need to buy a whole new interface for each detector, just replace the software card instead. - much more flexible.
One of the detectors we'll be making our detector interface work with next year is the Escort 9500i. We'll be doing this more so that 9500i customers can use it on their motorcycles with the Vizalert. However the same Radar Detector Interface is used for the bike Helmet system as the GPSmirror, so if it works with one, it works with both
That was one of the points I mentioned to the Whistler engineer - whenever they were next doing a new detector would they please include a headphone socket so we can make the RDI compatible. (RDI = Radar detector Interface from now on - takes too long to type otherwise.)
