SheltonJ,

I've been doing some extensive driving with Cheetah's GPSMirror of late and have hooked it up to several radar detectors via their radar detector interface.

Cheetah's alerting does rely on the audio tone alerts of the equipment to which it is attached (and therefore the potential for a small latency does exist).

With respect to picking up tones from the Blinder system, while their may be a similar type of latency in the system, I don't see how having the Cheetah hooked up to your jammer would in any way cause any potential for a delay of the jamming function, itself, perhaps just the alerting of the jamming function.

We'll see if we can get either Blinder and/or Cheetah to provide their input to your question.

SheltonJ,

The M-25 is a great unit and yes, placement is very important. If your interested in testing your new M-25, I do my own testing in the atlanta area. I have a police laser gun. If your looking for a good place that does quality installs on Blinder units, I recommend "MEGAMAXX" over off cobb parkway in marietta next to the big chicken!! As for the Cheetah wireless mirror, you would need to get feed back from them on their product.

I am very interested in doing some testing. Ideally I would like to do before and after with both the Blinder and the Veil. Presumably I can just turn the Blinder on and off (I think - I am planning to do a wireless install).
I don't have the Blinder just yet (it is being shipped currently), but once I have it installed it sounds like it would be very interesting to test it.
The wireless kit is different from the GPS mirror, it is simply a remote audio/visual alert to let you avoid running wires through the firewall.

I'll ask my technical colleague Stuart to answer your question in more detail but the basic answer is that there is no noticeable delay at all. It's calculated in milliseconds and it's too little to make any difference to a human being's reaction time.

As soon as the Blinder system sends out an alert - the warning is given on the cheetah warning unit. If you have a recent Wireless Fitting Kit (WFK) it should come with the Keyfob kill switch as standard.

The WFK that SheltonJ has works in exactly the same way as a laser jammer interface for the GPSmirror. The only difference is the WFK has a seperate "stand-alone" warning unit for in the car which the LJI doesn't need becuase the alerts come through the mirror.

The Cheetah WFK does not affect the Blinder's reation to a laser signal in any way. All jamming functions are fully controlled by the Blinder units themselves. When you're hit with laser they start jamming as normal.

The Cheetah hardware simply connects to the Blinder's buzzer output and relays the Blinder's audio alert. There is a very short latency period in the alert announcement that is used to filter out the Blinder's "end of test phase" chirp, however this is less than human reaction time.
