Finally Beltronics Accept a Problem with Rampup on STi

Ok, we have been in talks with Beltronics regarding the poor rampup of the STi, they have finally said that if you own a STi you can send it back in for a ramp up fix to make it more of a progressive ramp up and not a harsh one like the shipping models.

I am pleased to hear this news. I have been patiently waiting for such an outcome, as I understand that Beltronics has had a lot on their plate with new product development and releases.

It was only a matter of time when they would dedicate enough engineering resources for an already existing model.

This should make an already extraordinary radar detector, even better!

We? Who's we? Just bustin your chops SC. Hopefully mine will be the first one back from Bel with the fix. If not, someone else will get the first review. I hope I'm not extremely disappointed. Veil Guy, since you have a ton of experience with many RD's, how does the ramp up with the RX65 compare with the V1. I have an STi and a V1. The V1 is absolutely perfect and provides a wonderfully executed linear audio ramp up. The STi desperately needs this for those of use who use it in restricted areas, aka VA.

I ment several members of the radar ferternity when i say "we"

The RX65 is not as good as the V1 in ramp up, better than the STi but not as good as a V1.

I have used both those detectors and the V1 is much better in my books.

Going off the top of my head I would rate the top three radar detector audio ramp-ups (descending):

1. V1
2. Escort Passport 8500 X50
3. Beltronics RX-65 Pro

An honorable mention has to the Whistler Pro 78 because, I believe, its got the best visual ramp-up of any radar detector. In fact it's so good, it reminds me of the original Escort radar detector which had an analogue signal strength indicator, that's how good the Whistler is.
