The Perfect Car

For those who don't know the Coast to Coast record was shattered last year by Alexander Roy setting the bar at an impressive 31h 04m from New York to L.A. He accomplished this in a BMW M5 that was armed to the teeth with all the law enforcement countermeasures money can buy. He averaged a Speed of roughly 91mph with no tickets and only 2 stops. He's already hinted the 30hrs can be broken so I began wondering what would be the ideal base car to do it in? What various gadgets should it have and what modifications should the car undergo? Below Is Alexander Roy's M5 with a list of its gadgets and modifications. Below that is my "Ideal Car" and below that is hopefully your "Ideal Cars"

Radar Roy and I recently completed a cross country/trans-continental rally "race" (Fireball Run) in my Dinan 5 Series...and I must say it is was a wonderful platform to work with.

With a top cruising speed in the neighborhood of about 170mph, that could certainly put us in contention. We ran very strong in some good company...a late-model Ford GT, Ferrari 360, Aston-Martin Vanquish, a stock BMW 335i & M5 (which both quit at around 155mph).

I have mused with CP about "modding" an Merc E-series diesel. I suspect that would do very nice as well, and with less fuel stops.

BTW, of course our vehicle had a Blinder, Veil, a host of high-end radar detectors, and a bunch of other goodies.
