S/V...I don't either. I own a v1 and yes it has an advantages with the arrows but they don't make it a world beater over any other really good detector..

Personally I like/appreciate them all and happily drive with any of the top performing radar detectors, in today's world, they all have their pluses [and minuses] but they're all so damn good today!
|
S/V..I can totally agree with this.
Vailguy/
SV/ certainly as long as broad statements of any particular detector's superiority don't rear their ugly heads..

Remember we are all on the same side, at the end of the day, regardless of the tools we each choose to use.

SV/ I can agree with that.

I know the Guys of Lidar have taken a lot of hits for testing with radar-absorbing foam, however I think it is important to remember, whatever the setup was, all of the radar detectors were presented with the same environment.
|
SV/ I have a real problem with that one. Just because they were used in the same enviroment doesn't make the test a good one.

And frankly, mind blowing tests which demonstrate 10-mile plus ranges don't amount to much in the real-world, in my opinion. When has anyone really received such warnings in areas where we spend most of the time driving..
|
SV/ I have yet to see GOL make what one would consider "real world tests" They are always skewing the antenna in unrealistic ways to lessen the signal because they haven't found a good testing area yet apparently. Now they are putting radar absorbing foam on the radar antennas? No one can really tell how this in reality effects the particular radar's output or the reception of a particular radar detector. These guys aren't police radar engineers after all...

In their defense, they did attempt to test [without interference] in the vastness of the AZ desert even though they ended-up [unfortunately] being interfered with in the end.
|
SV/ nothing to stop them now from using the same or better site is there now?

While individually we each may have disagreements with their techniques or approaches, I do believe they [the core team] are well intended.

SV...They may be "well intended" but ever hear this quotation? "The road to hell is paved with good intentions.."

Finally, for what its worth, I know Jimbonzzz, and he is about as sharp as they come, IMO.

SV..Jim is sharp no doubt but he isn't quite as sharp as he believes..

And, when Roy owned and operated his radar detector retailing business, I believe his customer support and dedication to his customers were at the highest levels I have ever seen. I really can't say I know of one RadarBusters customer which had a legitimately bad experience in all of my years working with him...he was that dedicated to his business and his customers.
|
SV/.. Roy "has gone straight" apparently. I am glad for that. Probably a condition of his probation. Only kidding..

There are a lot of "takers" in this business, I like to think that Radar Roy gave much more back than most (and still does). To be entirely candid, although I was thrilled for Roy personally, I am sorry that he sold his business, because he was a real pleasure to work with on a day-to-day basis and I believe this industry would not have been as strong (certainly not as fun) had he not been involved with it.
|
SV/ Like i said I am glad he pleases people now and not the other way around..

SV... I have always found your reviews of different radar detector products the most straight up honest opinions I have ever read.
Keep up the good work Vailguy!
