Sound like CP likes to "pick on" V1 owners a little bit.
How 'bout hitting drivers who use a bright blue 8500 X50 that are pretty easily seen [from the rear] as well, no?
SheltonJ,
Perhaps a remote display option from VR is a good choice if you are concerned about the V1 visibility. One could also change the "A" all bogeys mode to something a bit more discreet, I suppose, in the evening like the "logic" mode which primarily affects initial X [and potentially K-band] alerting--in this mode the little "l" appears instead of the big "A"
If you mount your V1 high enough (below your UV strip), it may be hard to see from the back of your vehicle; I have found that to be the case with the Cobra XRS-R7 and R9G radar detectors when mounted very high up on the windshield.
GB,
I've been pretty fortunate myself. I have gotten off of a number of potential speeding tickets while leaving a radar detector up on the windshield, as well. I have found that simply being decent and essentially honest with the LEOs tends to positively "trump" any potential negs having a detector visible. Besides, if you are doing 25mph in excess of the PSL, then I believe the appearance of a detector is more or less a non-issue...you're damn likely to get a ticket in any event.
My argument still holds: I believe many drivers of "high-end" radar detectors are generally more attentive to their surroundings and are therefore
safer drivers as a result,
irrespective of speed.
