This may be a way to get a discounted Escort into the hands of the public through authorized dealers. The Bel RX65 has been selling on Amazon in the $225 - $250 range, and this has been direct from Amazon, not just from 3rd party sellers (they have also sold the 9500ix for as low as $410, so much for MAP).

The fact Amazon is now an authorized dealer for Escort and Beltronic products and is still able to sell at discounted prices tells me that Escort is taking notice of the sales potential from mass retailers.

BTW, Amazon has stopped selling the 9500i, although it is still available from some 3rd party (unauthorized) sellers through Amazon. This tells me the 9500i is probably being discontinued, as many have speculated. It's not listed as out of stock, it's just not available from Amazon anymore.
