so far my only complaint about the STI-r is the ramp up. it's horrible.
it's more like "lack of".

Weak alerts using THT (display) from 0-2 are fine, just enough to let you know something is there. 3 is "on the fence". if it starts out below that, 3 usually includes that mild alert, if it starts out at that, it usually sounds off more like 4 and above, which basically sounds like full blast I/O!

even a mild false sounds like you are getting locked onto full blast, it's horrible. there is no "in between" to judge distance with the audio.
I have to look at the display to actually see what strength the alert is.
in the short time i have been testing it, I thought i had been locked on to several times, but it was a weak alert off to the side somewhere.

I really wish it had more of the ramp up my V1 or SR7 does.

I've been doing my own testing between this , my V1, and My SR7.
On k band it is hanging with the V1, and smokes my SR7.
I still have more to do though, including some Ka, and playing with the segments, junk filter, etc..

I do like the display though, and the combo vol/mute/sens piece. I just wish they had put at least one extra volume segment in the middle though.
